The Voice of the Silence with Meditations in Nature

May 25-27 Friday dinner through Sunday lunch

The Voice of the Silence by H.P. Blavatsky is noted for its inspirational and devotional tone, while its languate is filled with beautiful poetic imagery. Since its initial publication in 1889, The Voice has been rightly conisdered by successive generations of Theosophists to be a true theosophical classic. In the preface, HPB dedicates this work to "the few real mystics in the Theosophical Society." During this workshop, we will touch upon topics such as paradox, mysticism, and the PAth. There will be time for reading and discussing key passages from the text as well as periods of time set aside for quiet group reflection on the inner meaning of the verses.

The workshop will be facilitated by David Bruce. Lyn Trotman of the NYTS will guide the meditations in nature sessions of the weekend.

Each year the New York Theosophical Society sponsors a meditation
retreat at Pumpkin to meditate,
and to become deeply familiar with the peace and contentment that comes
through 'being' in the wonderfully spiritual atmosphere of Pumpkin
Hollow Retreat Center.

Meditating outside in natural surroundings help to enliven the basic intelligance of nature in our awareness and physiology. Our being resonates with the sight of a flower, sound of birds, feeling of the breeze. These experiences wake something up inside of us and help to set our lives into a more natural rhythm. Nature lovers have discovered this secret without ever studying meditation! Join us for a wonderful, relaxing weekend, as we focus our awareness on the experience of nature- sight, sound, touch, smell (and perhaps taste).

David Bruce is a third generation Theosophist, with both his mother and father and maternal grandmother having been members of the Theosophical Society. From 1985 to 2003 David was active in the Milwaukee Lodge where he served as president, program chairman, and treasurer. In 2003 he joined the staff at the national center of the TSA where he served as Director of Education until 2010 at which time he then assumed the duties of National Secretary in March of that year. Lyn Trotman is the President of the NYTS and serves on the Board of Trustees at Pumpkin Hollow Retreat Center.
