Lessons from the Heart: Exploring Ways to Enrich Your Life by Giving to Others
How we react to our life experiences determines how we live our lives. Andrew Bienkowski, (author of One Life to Give, a Path to Finding Yourself by Helping Others) believes this and lives it. Drawn from the extraordinary story of his family's survival of Siberian exile, Bienkowski hopes to pass on the gift he was given through the sacrifice of his grandfather.
In this workshop, we will explore ways to put others first---improving our relationships and better understanding ourselves in the process. Visualizations, techniques for listening and letting go, affirmations, dream work and methods of stress reduction will all be discussed and put into practice.
Mary Akers, co-author of One Life to Give, will discuss the creative and healing aspects of writing-from-life (memoir writing) and offer inspiring prompts to get you started. Participants will be encouraged to write about and share a personal, transformative life experience with the group.
Mary Akers' fiction, poetry, and non-fiction have appeared in a number of international journals including Bellevue Literary Review, The Fiddlehead, and Brevity.
